Youth Counselor - Residential

Function at all times as a caring, therapeutic cottage team member who serves as a positive role model, particularly in demonstrating compliance with established program policies and guidelines. Actively assist youth to reach goals by listening, teaching and counseling. Provide youth with clear expectations and directions, exercising appropriate authority when necessary. Deal with problems in a calm, patient and understanding manner, seeking assistance when necessary, per agency policies and procedures. Confirm youth are made aware of Boys and Girls Haven rules and consequences for infractions, allowing youth the opportunity to explain behavior before consequences are given. Give surety that information regarding youth and family is kept confidential. Ensure through teaching, monitoring and modeling that appropriate hygiene expectations are met. Ensure medical, dental and mental health protocols are followed and appointments are made and kept (transporting if needed), and noted in clients chart (in accordance with licensing and agency standards). Seek and/or follow medical instructions and/or prescriptions and record as needed. Other duties as assigned to ensure the success of our residents and program.

Job Requirements: Relevant college course work, preferably BA in Human Services field. At least 1 year of direct service experience with at-risk children, preferably in a residential treatment program environment. Personal accountability and professionalism to work in a team model, including the flexibility and willingness to fill in for other team members when needed. Must have basic word processing skills with competency required to successfully use Microsoft Office products and appropriate agency databases. Valid driver’s license required. Must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the U.S.

Therapist

Perform as a member of a team providing in-home, face-to-face services to clients. Working with the Case Manager and involved team of providers, supports specific behavioral and social goals that have been developed for and with the client. Serve in a supporting role to parents, school teachers and therapeutic providers.

Therapist must posses a Masters’ degree in social sciences, counseling or related human service field. Must have at least one year in-home services experience.

Both roles require adequate, reliable transportation with a willingness to travel within Bullitt, Hardin & Meade counties. Mileage reimbursement is available when traveling from client to client, and calculated from the main office in E-town, KY. Ability to work flexible hours – with or without advanced notice - various days as required and be available/willing to work on-call, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of our clients.

Therapeutic Foster Care Therapist

Position Summary: This position has the responsibility of carrying out all duties assigned by the Program Supervisor. The service requires therapists with a wide range of experience to assist clients in an individual, family or a group setting. Therapist must be proficient with delivering services in the home and maintain a flexible work schedule in order to respond to emergency requests. In addition to the expectations outlined in Boys' Haven’s Clinical Protocols include the following responsibilities:

Contact all parties within 24 hours after receiving a new admission. Collaborate with clients, foster parents, etc in coordinating a consistent therapy schedule between children and family members identified on the assessment. Complete the assessment package according to timeline.

Plan, organize and coordinate an individualized treatment plan for each client/family as per clinical protocol, which is consistent with the treatment protocols and family preservation. Provide individual, group and family therapy to all clients/families. Coordinate and ensure clinical and outcome procedures are documented and completed in a timely manner. Collaborate with social services and community resources on behalf of residents/families. Establish a working relationship and rapport with clients/families.

Assist the client/family in obtaining the identified goals. Provide planned interventions (teaching, coaching, practicing, role-playing, affirmation, etc.) based on the treatment plan. Identify prognosis for families successful completion of treatment goals and objectives; provide service plan to the client families for review and suggest and guide appropriate clinical interventions to staff within clinical programs. Problem solve crisis issues in an efficient and effective manner.

Clinical on-call coverage at all times.

Maintain licensing with the appropriate entities (Commonwealth of Kentucky) and compliance with other funding sources as appropriate.

Provide ongoing training for staff and foster parents where appropriate. Assess appropriateness of ongoing clinical training and assist in the modification of the curriculum when necessary. Attend a minimum of 40 hours of training per year to maintain supervisory and credentialing provisions dictated by individual certifications and regulatory agencies.

Ensure client information is kept confidential.

Significant amount of travel required. 50% travel in and around Jefferson County and surrounding counties, i.e. Salt River Trail Region.

Other clinical duties as directed.

Qualifications
Education Requirements: Kentucky LCSW or CSW with LCSW obtained within 3 years. Or qualified mental health professional with Kentucky licensure/certification is acceptable.

Experience Requirements: Substantial, post-graduation, clinical experience with adolescents and family, preferably in a family preservation model.


Impact Plus - Impact Plus is a home-based service program that works with families and service providers to keep at-risk youth from being removed from their homes based on behavioral and emotional disturbances. We are recruiting for the following contract positions:

Behavioral Health Professional/Therapist: Independent Contract Position

Candidates must possess a Masters Degree in Human Service field required with licensure, or pursuit of licensure in respective field also required. Must meet guidelines to be certified as a Behavioral Health Professional through the Impact Plus Program.
