As Director of Development, Jim Grote has accomplished a lot in nine years – from helping direct a successful $2 million capital campaign for renovating the boys’ living quarters to establishing a $500,000 annual grants program and editing a book that tells the story of Father Maloney and Boys’ Haven.
His immediate goal for Boys’ Haven’s future is “to diversify our funding sources and grow our endowment.”
Before joining the Boys’ Haven staff in 1999, Mr. Grote was Associate Director of Stewardship and Development for the Archdiocese of Louisville. He also has been a grant writer and finance director for the St. Vincent dePaul Center (Louisville), taught college philosophy courses and worked in a soup kitchen in San Francisco, CA, for the Catholic Worker.
Mr. Grote serves on the editorial advisory board for Planned Giving Today, a national publication, is a member of the Kentucky Planned Giving Council and is a member the grants committee for the Louisville Coalition for the Homeless. He has a bachelor’s degree from Wilmington College in Ohio, a master’s degree from the University of Louisville, and a Certified Financial Planner designation from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards.
