Trustee Jim Ogburn grew up hearing about his Great Uncle Ray, who was kidnapped from his native Italy and brought to this country more than 100 years ago. “Uncle Ray grew up on the street corners of Louisville. He needed the help our [Boys Haven] boys are getting,” Mr. Ogburn says.
“Boys and Girls Haven is known for its excellent work with young men and women who have nowhere else to turn. It’s run with competence, and I want to be a part of that.” The retired general manager of Loadbank International, a conveyors and material handling company in Orlando, Florida, Mr. Ogburn returned to Louisville several years ago.
The St. X High School valedictorian attended Notre Dame on an ROTC scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Following a three-year stint in the Navy, he earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Louisville. As an engineer, he managed several material-handling firms throughout the U.S.
Mr. Ogburn, who describes himself as a visionary with a creative approach, said he’s glad to be home again – and grateful to be part of Boys and Girls Haven’s mission. “There are a lot of good vibes around about Boys and Girls Haven. I’m honored to serve.”
