Sixty-four of the best claiming horses in the country were entered in the 10th running of the Claiming Crown at Canterbury Park in Shaokopee, Minn. on August 2, including Boys' Haven Equine's own Antrim County!




The Claiming Crown features seven races, with purses ranging from ,000 to 0,000, and is open to horses that have started at least once in 2007-08 for claiming prices ranging from ,500 to ,000. Before the Claiming Crown Iron Horse, Antrim won his last three starts at Churchill Downs under the leadership of Program Manager Jay Wilkinson and the youth in our equine job skills training program.



Jay chose two of his hardest working students for the chance to go along for the trip, and the group was rewarded for all of their hard work with an amazing first place finish, broadcast on national television! Several local newspapers and even a few national publications were taken by the Boys' Haven Equine Program story, and the crew spent time doing interviews for anyone interested.
