Jim Nesbit sees Boys and Girls Haven as a perfect vehicle for helping boys and girls. “My father died when I was 11 and my mother raised me. A real missing person in your life is a father,” he says. “Because of that, I‘ve always wanted to help children.”
A General Electric employee for 38 years, Mr. Nesbit retired in 1992 as the company’s General Manager for Marketing and Sales. He formerly was a GE operations manager with the responsibility of 2,000 employees. Additionally, he’s been a professor in Webster University’s graduate school for 12 years.
Mr. Nesbit is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He received his MBA from the University of Michigan, a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Spalding College, and a PhD from Nova University in 1990. While at Spalding in 1982, he interned at Boys Haven as a therapist and met Father Maloney. “He asked me to be on the Board, and I’ve been here ever since,” Mr. Nesbit says. He has served two terms as Chair of the Board.
“I was proud to be a friend of Father Maloney, and I’m proud to associate with the other Board members and with a staff dedicated to helping boys and girls.”
