Our Continuum of Services
Campus Residential Programs
Residential Treatment . . . Providing a Safe Haven
Boys Haven offers an intensive, structured therapeutic
environment 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Eligibility:
Males, ages 11-17, with a history of abuse and neglect;
referred by the state Department of Community Based Services (levels 4-5);
and/or Impact Plus clients with a qualifying hospital stay needing residential
treatment.
Campus Education . . . Teaching Values and Skills
In addition to traditional
middle school and high school curricula, the campus school (JCPS
affiliated) emphasizes social skills and remedial instruction for students
needing special education. We also offer a specialized GED program conducted by
Jefferson County Public Schools to assist
transitional and permanent clients with completing their education.
Job Training Program
Equine Program . . . On
the Job Training
The Equine Program is an independent living program
emphasizing employment training and job placement. Through intensive
supervision and daily contact we are able to accept 17 to 20-year old males,
females and mothers. A professional staff of instructors,
case managers, and an equine therapy team
provide level-5 placements the support necessary to prepare for discharge.
Eligibility: The Equine Program accepts state committed males and
females, ages 17-21.
Community Based Programs
Diversion Services/PATH Program . . .
Empowering Families
Boys Haven provides intensive in-home services for
families at risk of having a child placed in out
of home care. Services include comprehensive assessment, flexible
family-focused service plans, individual and family therapy, and support
services to keep the family together in a safe and stable environment.
Eligibility: Families must be TANF eligible with children between the ages
of 10-17. Services are provided in
Impact Plus . . . Protecting At-Risk Children
Boys Haven provides intensive in-home services for
children and adolescents up to age 21 that are at risk of being placed in
out-of-home care such as a hospital, foster care, or residential treatment
facility. There are occasions where a child is leaving a placement may be
referred in order to transition back to the home. Eligibility: All
of the clients served must have a state medical card. This program also
serves youth requiring residential care with eligibility being completed by one
of our therapists.
Therapeutic Foster Care . . . Promoting a Homelike Setting
The foster care program
provides boys and girls with a safe, secure environment to successfully overcome
the disappointments and disruptions of their past. Foster parents are supported
by a team of professionals from Boys Haven. Eligibility: Clients in need
of foster care; males and females, ages birth to 21; and referred through the
State of
Youth Mentoring . . . Coaching Kids in Need
Adult mentors help young men and women, ages 15 to 21,
in out-of-home care as well as former state care alumni (regardless of age) in
their transition to independent living. Eligibility: Participants
must verify current or previous state custody.
Independent Living Programs
Permanent Housing . . . Housing
Homeless Youth with Disabilities
We provide permanent housing and services for homeless
young male and female adults, ages 18 and above, with mental, emotional and
physical disabilities. Eligibility: Clients must meet the HUD
definition of homelessness and have proof of mental or physical disability.
Transitional Living . . . Empowering Homeless Youth
We prepare homeless young male and female adults, ages
18 to 23 for successful transition from adolescence and dependency into
adulthood and independence. Eligibility: HUD clients must meet the
HUD definition of homelessness. Chafee client must be former
foster care youth. Services are provided

Independent Living . . . Homeless Prevention,
Aging-Out Youth
In order to prevent future homelessness, we provide
housing and independent living skills for young men and women preparing to age
out of state care. Apartments are available both in
Pre-Independent Living . . . Preparing Teens for
Adulthood
This campus-based program provides intensive life
skills training. The focus of the program is on education (GED or diploma)
and employment. Eligibility: State committed males only, ages 17-18.
